Showing off is talking to be seen and heard.

Showing up is to see and hear another person.

People need to be seen and heard. It is okay for you to desire acknowledgment and validation from others.

It is even better to offer acknowledgment and validation to others.

Listen to other people. Ask them questions. Be genuinely interested. Give the gift of seeing, hearing, acknowledging and validating other people.

Show up, rather than show off.
