Showing Up Versus Showing Off

Showing up is a form of witnessing and validating another.

You are giving them a chance to express themselves, you are giving them the gift of being seen and heard. You are telling them, “You are valuable, you are enough.” You are appreciating them for who they are.

Showing off is to seek validation from another. You are asking them to witness you, to see you and hear you. You are asking them, “Am I enough? Will you appreciate me?”
