Having a sense of urgency and practicing patience are not mutually exclusive.

For instance, you may wish to learn a skill such as playing a musical instrument, speaking a foreign language, or flying an airplane.

Having a sense of urgency will cause you to get started sooner rather than later, and study and practice regularly.

Practicing patience will give you the calm persistence to improve 1% every day until you are talented at the new skill.
